It is the northernmost kingdom of South Valkion and is currently ruled by a wood elf king and queen. It is one of the Five Kingdoms of Valkion. The kingdom is often known for its incredible stone walls and commanding ruler, but also its beautiful expanse of forestry and military advancement. Many know it to raise exceptional soldiers and fighters. Known as the adamantine-steeled ruler of Foryn. - **Queen ... Foryn**: Wife of Norsȧel and ruling Queen of the Kingdom. - **Prince ... Foryn**: Eldest prince and heir to the throne—an exceptionally skilled and capable warrior. - **Prince ... Foryn**: Youngest prince and second heir—a competent and hard-working young elf. #### Nobility and influential families ... There are several noble houses that hold great importance within the kingdom. Their influence is determined by their wealth, relationship with the royal family, and status among the nobility. Some of the noble houses are the following: - **House x**: Prominent family run by a duke. Keeps all other nobility in check, and bears a holy mark. - **House Waesleth**: Noble family of import. Holds territory off the coast of Foryn, and is known for being led by a tiefling marquis. #### Military ... ... ## History #### Independence from Sorathane ... Around the year 230 PD, war broke out within the walls of the [[Holy Kingdom of Sorathane]]. High nobility were in heavy disagreement with the society that was built around them. Three rulers took action against what they viewed to be corrupt leadership and unjust religious practices, thus initiating a civil war—now referred to as the [[War of Sunder]]. This war lasted for about 10 years before the first King of Sorathane succumbed and aided their departure. However, in exchange, the three rulers vowed to erect a church of [[Saia]] under the name of Sorathane. Foryn's church became known as the Northern Church of Saia. These three rulers split off from Sorathane, pursuing individual land under their leader's name. #### Founding of Foryn ... Those who followed the wood elf, Jorsvȧen Foryn, ventured northward past a thick expanse of forest until they stood before an incredible clearing of brush and debris. It was as though it were placed there for them by the Wildmaiden herself. In the months that followed, the glade was cleared out to build the foundation of the forest-dwelling Kingdom of Foryn. The now-King ruled over his people as a commander and knight—aiding in keeping foreign entities from entering their growing walls. Even past the war, he continued to offer speeches of freedom and strength. These values would continue onwards through the centuries. #### The Rise of Crime ... Many centuries passed before darkness billowed in the underbelly of the kingdom. Within months, crime began overtaking the bustling cities that now spilled outside of the forces of the forest. Having turned a blind eye, the ruling king set in stone laws that would therefore outlaw the pursuit of crime and debauchery. However, these laws would only prove difficult to maintain and justify—a steel fist that slowly tightened around the civilians of Foryn. The king assigned very particular methods to enact business; practices that kept a watchful eye over merchants and farmers and kept them in line the moment they crossed the exact boundaries set. However, with each new law set in place, darkness continued to stir in ways the king never expected—with each law, more people learned to toe their way around them. This resulted in more direct and crushing laws. Which, in turn, ended up creating the criminal underbelly of Foryn. #### Current Day ... The walls of Foryn continue to be clad in iron and steel—valiant in keeping out any and all outsiders, with few exceptions. Nearly impossible to visit, very few travelers mark the kingdom as a destination of interest, if not for the underlying crime that is said to run amuck; even though, with time, lawbreakers have calmed their outward presence. The current reigning King Norsȧel Foryn maintains the same iron fist upon the region as his father before him. ## Trivia ...
